Friday Night Lights Market welcomes shoppers

HOLLAND — Dozens of locals enjoyed live music, food trucks, and shopping during Holland Town Center's first Friday Night Lights Market.

The event was organized by Macatawa Marketplace, also known as The Market at Holland Town Center, which launched in July 2020 with a few dozen vendors and a single food truck.

During the market, the Wooden Shoe Dixieland Band played while several couples and children danced. Food trucks Holy Smokers BBQ and Crepes by the Lakes served food.

Additional night markets are planned for July and September. Organizers are also exploring a chalk art festival, street performers and restaurant-themed picnic tables.

"I thought it'd be something a little different," said organizer Ruth Doane in February.

"We have a big enough area and space. We're trying to have multiple food trucks, as well. You can bring the family, get a bite to eat, shop and be entertained."

The market will continue its regular day schedule the second Saturday of each month, with the next event slated for 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, near the conclusion of Tulip Time.
